Mihoko ASANOSoprano)

Graduated from the Department of Music Performance (Vocal major) at

Kunitachi College of Music in Tokyo, and now is the member artist of the Tokyo

Nikikai, Opera Foundation.

After her sensational debut as “Zerlina” in Don Giovanni, she has had many

roles in various operas as; “Pamina” in Die Zauberflöte (Mozart), “Micaëla” in

Carmen (Bizet), “Adina” in L'elisir d'amore (Donizetti). In her role as “Violetta” in

La Traviata (Verdi), she was highly praised: “The Soprano Mihoko Asano acted

with a finely controlled sensitivity!”

She has challenged herself boldly in playing contemporary music as; the “first

solo” in Król Roger (Szymanwski) conducted by Charles Dutoit, “Soprano solo”

in Litanies à la Vierge Noire (Puolenc) with NHK Symphony Orchestra. She

also took part in Sinfonia by Berio with Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra.

She sang featured songs for the cinema “Wonderful Days” by GAINAX Co., Ltd.

She has released two CDs: “Kunnpu” with Japanese songs and “Souvenir aria et

Duo” with arias of the opera, Thaïs
